Modeling

Hey, everyone! Happy very late Thursday! Okay, so it's Friday morning right now...

I'm so excited to get to share this post with those of you who check in on me from time to time. It really something different than my usual posts (or looks).

My buddy Nathan asked me to be a model for his watercolour final at his college. He wanted to do a water-themed watercolour on human skin. After priming my face and making me a few shades lighter than I am, he got to work painting waterlilies, a dragonfly, a lotus flower and even a little baby fish skeleton on my shoulders and upper arms.
He added a few lines from a favorite poem of his about burial at sea. It talks about entrusting the ocean to caring for the body of a dearly departed one.
We decided to go for something outstanding and over-the-top, practically making me look like a different person. The white lines on the cheekbones remind me of gills, making the creature look mostly human, but also part fish.

It was a fun experience, and I hope I get to model some more in the future.

(And yes, it took a long time to wash off! Haha!)

Bossin' it (or new Striped Tank)

My sister got this great new black and white striped shirt for me as a birthday gift (she knows my tastes even better than I do, sometimes) and I got to use it in a professional outfit this week.
I figure any colour, primary or not, could work in this way...
I like red right now.

Including red lips... :p
I've been wearing this bracelet for days... I took it off for a few hours. It was back on again before noon!
This is how I do it casually. Black jeans.. and a like-minded friend, of course!
I wish you all wardrobe bliss! Happy Thursday everyone!

A Birthday Gift

Hello, dear readers, and happy Thursday!

Today I want to show you a lovely birthday present that I got from a friend of mine. He comes over to my little apartment on Wednesdays for dinner and opera rehearsals.

Our birthdays are a week apart, and he, so thoughtful, got a me a few things that I just love! I don't know how he could tell that I would enjoy this so much, but among the items he brought my way: a lavender peacock cameo necklace, and a collection of Russian art songs, performed by Anna Netrebko (I did a study of her personal style not long ago). And there was even more! I hope to show those things in future posts. My sister and I found him a tie and a matching pocket square. (He loves to dress well, and we appreciate!)

As I study, I'll be listening to In The Still of the Night, a live recording of one of her concerts from Salzburg in 2009. It's all Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsokov's work, and I can't wait to read the notes in the booklet, as well.
Woohoo!
I've never owned an album from Anna Netrebko, although I had many of Maria Callas. I remember feeding my suit-mate's fish in college, and seeing that she had a CD of Netrebko's. I thought to myself: "Wow, I didn't think she'd like opera, but it's good to know she has good taste in singers!" Now when I think back on it, my suite-mate has always had classic style. :)
Go, Anna, Go!
I guess I must say, then, thank you, Brennan, not only for remembering my birthday, but hooking me up with this album as well as a great scarf, a solid perfume case, and a hilarious greeting card!

Thank you to all my friends who are wishing me well now and all year, and thanks to all my readers!

See you next week!
